Dreams Deferred (Artists Respond to Immigration Reform)

I missed the opening reception last night at the Chinese American Musuem. So I decided to grab the kids and take them on a field trip to downtown Los Angeles this morning. My daughter loved Olvera st, well at least the churros they were serving at a stand by the entrance. Both kids enjoyed the museum and were very respectful by getting their dirty little hands all over them... I went in support of Eyeone, but there were other artists worth checking out. Cache, Shepard Fairey, Swank, Patrick Martinez, Tempt to name a few. The exhibit runs through May 22nd of next year and is FREE- so GO!

Not sure if I was going to make the whole New Age Fest with it starting around noon, so I decided to hit this show up to catch some of the bands I was gonna miss. Cutting Through and Decline are always fun to watch. Loved Safe & Sound and Restraining Order. Second dose of Fixation was nice and look out for new merch by Treason with a photo you might recognize. Notspoken? Wasn't sure what was going to go on with this one... short but sweet set with 3 singers. It was fun.

Rad show in a very sketchy neighborhood. I kinda miss those 7th street shows now. Venue was really cool, a nice warehouse with a great stage.  Perfect line up and a show where I didn't wanna miss a single band. Honestly these shows are when I miss little Danny most, these are the bands that he loves. Hopefully he'll be down for FTC.

I was worried about this being an outdoor show all day long, and then Danny from Drug Control text with the amazing news that it changed to the indoor venue. Good times. Loved seeing new and old friends, east coast and west, and assholes like Andrew Kline too. Mike and Chris Lisk did a great job. I love that Mike is doing New Age again, he has a great roster already.
